President of the Senate of the Czech Republic Milan Stech and his wife Ivana Stechova are paying an official State visit to Vietnam from November 15-20 at the invitation of Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Sinh Hung.

The Senate President is accompanied by member of the Committee on Public Administration, Regional Development and the Environment - Chairperson of the Czech Social Democratic Party Caucus Petr Vicha; member of the Committee on Legal and Constitutional Affairs - Chairperson of the Civic Democratic Party Caucus Jaroslav Kubera; member of the Committee on Public Administration, Regional Development and the Environment - Chairwoman of Caucus ANO and Northern Bohemians; member of the Committee on Legal and Constitutional Affairs - Chairperson of the Standing Senate Commission on Rural Development Miroslav Nenutil; member of Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defence and Security Patrik Kuncar; Head of the Secretariat of President of the Senate Jaroslav Mullner; Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Vietnam Martin Klepetko; along with numerous other leaders and representatives of the Academy of Sciences, Chamber of Commerce and enterprises of the Czech Republic.
Milan Stech was born on November 13, 1953. During the 1990 – 2010 period, he was a member of the Board of Kovo Trade Union and held the role of Vice President; after which he became a member of the leadership and President of Czech-Moravian Confederation of Trade Unions.
Milan Stech served as Vice Chairman of the Economic and Social Council between 1994 and 2010. He was elected as Chairperson of the Committee on Health and Social Policy of the Senate in 1996, Vice President of the Senate in 2008 and President in 2010.
Stech was re-elected Senate President in 2012 and 2014. He is a member of the Czech Social Democratic Party.
