Sa Pa named among top three destinations for New Year holiday.

The survey showed that only 22% of all tourism inquiries seek urban tours while up to 44% opt for nature getaways, which can explain why urban tourism hubs are absent from the sought-after destinations for this year’s New Year holiday.

Da Lat and Sa Pa were ranked among the most searched queries for Christmas, from December 24-27, and for New Year holiday, from December 30-January 3, by domestic Booking.com users.

A trip to beach is also a popular choice for Vietnamese customers to welcome in New Year 2021 as 42% of domestic travellers plan to visit coastal destinations.

Phu Quoc Island is ranked as the second-most popular beach for New Year’s vacation, having attracted the interest of 71% of users.

The survey also revealed that travel planners are avoiding crowded destinations and wanting to discover less popular locations. 54% of Vietnamese tourists responded that they prefer alternative choices to trips in high season, while 42% shied away from crowded public areas and 61% abandoned overcrowded tourist destinations.

In addition, 63% of travellers searched for fresh experiences in rural areas, with Cam Pha (Quang Ninh Province), Bac Yen (Son La Province), Mu Cang Chai (Yen Bai Province), and Buk So (Dak Nong Province) being the most popular destinations. Nhan Dan
