The week, which aims to introduce Vietnamese cultural identity and tourism potential to international friends, includes an ASEAN Heritage Festival, the launch of the Central Highlands’ Tourism Year 2014, the 120th anniversary of the founding of Da Lat, and the Da Lat Flower Festival.

The heritage festival, the first of its kind hosted by Vietnam, is expected to attract the participation of ASEAN member nations as well as India, China, Japan, and the Republic of Korea.

Nguyen Thanh Son, Deputy Head of the Foreign Ministry’s Cultural Diplomacy and UNESCO Affairs Department, said each participating country can introduce attendees to their UNESCO-recognised tangible or intangible heritage or their cultural traditions.

The 2014 Tourism Year will highlight the Central Highland region’s tourism development potential.

Lam Dong Provincial People’s Committee Vice Chairman Doan Van Viet said preparations are essentially complete thanks to the efforts of local residents and businesses and expatriates entrepreneurs abroad.

Da Lat City is putting the final touches on its adornments ahead of the week’s diverse activities.
