The Dalattourist Company is planning to build an amusement park and adventure sports center in the central highlands resort city of Da Lat with total investment of an estimated VND307 billion ($14 million).
A senior official from the Lam Dong People’s Committee confirmed with VET on September 22 that a proposal has been submitted by the company.
It will be located at the Datanla Waterfall Eco-Tourism Area on an area of 99 ha.
Construction will begin late this year and be completed by 2020.
The project will include entertainment areas, internal transport networks, fire fighting service and general utilities.
The Ministry of Planning and Investment has recently approved the construction of a safari park in Da Lat costing VND1 trillion ($44.6 million) and located inside a protected forest in the city on an area of 490 ha.
Scheduled for completion in 2020, it will welcome 1.2 million visitors and earn VND300 billion ($13.4 million) in revenue annually, according to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT).
Lam Dong has a total area of 9,773 sq km and a population of over 1.2 million. It is currently seeking investment in 53 projects worth $2.8 billion in transport, industrial zones, bio-technology, hi-tech farming, food processing, and tourism.
Da Lat is a major tourist destination famous not only among Vietnamese but also among foreigners and is 320 km from Ho Chi Minh City and 60 km from Mui Ne.
In the first seven months it welcomed an estimated 3.2 million visitors, an increase of 8 per cent year-on-year and representing 60.84 per cent of the annual plan, according to the Lam Dong Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
Of these, 147,000 were international visitors, up 45.02 per cent year-on-year, and 3.1 million were Vietnamese visitors, up 6.61 per cent.
