Cathedral Domaine de Marie, known as Mai Anh, is located on a cherry blossom hill. It is both a religious venue and a popular tourist attraction. The cathedral was built on a 12-hectare site and features a blend of western design and the architecture of ethnic minority groups in the central highlands.

Construction began on the cathedral in 1940 and it was completed thanks to the sum donated by Ms Suzanne Humbert, wife of Jean Decoux, French general-governor of Indochina for parishioners.

The roof of the cathedral is built in the style of communal house in the central highlands. Domain de Marie cathedral does not feature a bell-tower like other cathedrals.

The stairs leading to the main entrance door and lobby. The stone windows were built in the manner of architecture in France’s northern region in the 17th century.

The statue of the Virgin Mary was designed by French architect Janchère. It is 3 metres in height and weighs 3 tons. It was made in 1943 and donated by Ms Suzanne.

The large grounds of the cathedral are surrounded by pine trees. The cathedral has been painted pink since it was built. The unique colour makes it a special attraction for many tourists.

Before 1975, the cathedral was famous for its charitable activities for orphans with the participation of 50 nuns. At present, these activities are continuing to be held at the cathedral to help disadvantaged children, orphans and poor people. 

The best times to visit the cathedral are in the early morning or at sunset.
