Han River, Da Nang City.
Chairman of Lien Chieu District, Mr. Duong Thanh Thi told VietNamNet that about 400 civil servants, administrative officers of Lien Chieu district have not received their salary for November. The total amount is VND7 billion ($350,000).
The payment is late because of the district’s shortage of budget revenue, which is caused by the impacts of economic downturn.
Many businesses in the district are in trouble and they owe taxes or do not pay taxes, causing a fall in budget revenue. The total budget revenue of Lien Chieu District is about VND150 billion ($7 million), equivalent to 62% of the plan.
Da Nang’s Vice Chairman Vo Duy Khuong, at the meeting with Lien Chieu District’s officials on November 13, decided to allocate VND7 billion from the city budget to pay salary to the district’s civil servants.
Mr. Khuong asked Lien Chieu District authorities to review expenses to make sure that salaries and allowances for civil servants are paid on time.
Chief of the Lien Chieu District People's Committee, Mr. Van Dung, said the salary is usually paid from the 5th to the 10th of every month.
