The festival, hosted by the Vietnam Association for the Promotion and Development of Cinema in coordination with the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism of Da Nang City, promises to be a significant event in the cinematic calendar.
This year's festival will honor outstanding, humane, and artistically unique films from Vietnamese cinema and the Asia-Pacific region. Vietnamese films such as "Peach, Pho and Piano," "Mai," and "Face Off 7: One Wish” will compete for top honors.
The festival will feature a special screening program dedicated to director Dang Nhat Minh, showcasing his acclaimed works such as "When the Tenth Month Comes," "Girl on the River," "Don't Burn," and "Hanoi in Winter 1946."
The festival aims to introduce the public to new cinematic works with significant content and artistic value from Vietnam and the Asia-Pacific region. Selected films from world cinema will also be presented.
The 63 participating films are categorized as follows:
- Asian Films Competition: 13 films
- Vietnamese Films Competition: 10 films
- Vietnamese Cinema Today Program: 18 films
- Focus on French Cinema Program: 8 films
- Director Dang Nhat Minh Selection: 7 films
- Da Nang Films: 4 films
- Varan Documentary Program: 3 films
Films will be screened at five large theaters and two outdoor venues, offering audiences a unique and engaging cinematic experience.
DANAFF II will host various seminars and workshops, including:
- French cinema and its relationship with Vietnamese cinema
- Sharing experiences in connecting coastal film festivals
- Director Dang Nhat Minh's style
- Film production cooperation - international experience and development solutions
Vice Chairman of Da Nang People's Committee, Tran Chi Cuong, emphasized that hosting the second Da Nang Asian Film Festival reaffirms Da Nang's position as a trusted destination for international events. He highlighted the festival's role in connecting tourism and cinema, enhancing Da Nang's appeal as an ideal destination for both domestic and international visitors.
The opening ceremony will be held on July 2, and the closing and award ceremonies will take place on July 6. Both events, along with the Red Carpet program, will be hosted at the Ariyana International Convention Palace in Da Nang and broadcast live on VTV.
