VietNamNet Bridge – From 2017, the international fireworks contest in Da Nang will be held annually instead of biennially and will last up to 3 weeks instead of only two days as before, reported the organizing board.
The Sun Group, which is known as the builder of huge cable car systems in Vietnam, will be the event organizer next year.
The competition will take place in March to celebrate the city’s liberation day on March 29.
Next year, the competition will have 8 teams, including the seven champions of the previous years and Da Nang team.
There will be other events to attract tourists including a food festival, paragliding shows and an international music festival. The event will become an international festival, a Sun Group representative said.
The cost for next year festival is estimated at around VND50 billion (US$2.25 million), according to Sun Group.
Official statistics showed the number of tourists visiting Da Nang during the fireworks event surged from 50,000 in 2008 to 460,000 last year.
Da Nang International Fireworks Competition started for the first time in 2008. Invited teams from all over the world and the host Vietnam compete against each other in the city. It was held at the end of March (2008-2010) and the end of April (2011-2015) on the National Reunion holidays.
