On November 11, during a special session of the Da Nang People’s Council, the municipal government’s proposal was approved for investment in computational infrastructure to support research and development (R&D) in chip design and AI.
This public investment project falls under Group B, with total funding drawn from the city’s budget. Implementation is scheduled from 2025 to 2028 and will be located on the second floor of the ICT Building in Software Park No. 2, Hai Chau Ward.
The project’s primary goal is to establish a high-performance computing (HPC) system to support semiconductor design simulation, AI model development, big data processing, and to serve R&D and training activities at universities, research institutes, and technology enterprises across the city.
Da Nang’s People’s Committee emphasized that the HPC investment is not merely a technical deployment, but a strategic move to create a modern digital infrastructure platform. This will help advance the digital economy, high-tech industries, and smart urban development, while also realizing the city’s roadmap for semiconductor and AI development.
Once operational, the HPC system is expected to be a key driver of breakthrough growth in semiconductor and AI sectors, attracting major technology corporations and establishing the “Silicon Bay Da Nang” brand as a regional high-tech hub.
Beneficiaries of this project include government agencies, universities, research institutions, AI and semiconductor startups, and units within the city’s semiconductor–AI training alliance.
