Chairman of Da Nang People’s Committee Luong Nguyen Minh Triet speaks at the ceremony.

On August 27, the city of Da Nang held a groundbreaking ceremony to initiate the projects, which include: the infrastructure investment and business development for Functional Zone No. 5 - Da Nang Free Trade Zone; Cable Car Line No. 9; and the Ba Na - Suoi Mo integrated urban, resort, and entertainment complex.

All projects are led by Sun Group as the main investor.

The Ba Na - Suoi Mo integrated complex spans 806 hectares and involves a total investment of 52 trillion VND (approx. USD 2.05 billion). It encompasses a mountain-foot urban-resort area with diverse amusement parks, low-rise housing, hillside villas, and a golf complex. On the mountain summit, it will feature eco-tourism facilities, five-star hotels, a convention center, amusement parks, and a multi-functional performance hall.

The infrastructure development project for Functional Zone No. 5 of Da Nang Free Trade Zone covers 90 hectares with a total investment of over 808 billion VND (approx. USD 31.8 million) and a projected operational lifespan of 70 years. It will focus on eco-tourism, healthcare, wellness services, and high-end resort offerings.

According to city planning, the entire Da Nang Free Trade Zone will span 1,881 hectares across seven non-contiguous locations. It is envisioned as a regional economic hub integrating manufacturing, logistics, commerce, services, and high-tech industries.

Cable Car Line No. 9 at Ba Na will have a one-way length of 5,879 meters, featuring 154 cabins and a transport capacity of 2,900 passengers per hour.

During the event, Chairman of Da Nang People’s Committee Luong Nguyen Minh Triet emphasized that launching the project in Functional Zone No. 5 marks a strategic step toward activating the Da Nang Free Trade Zone. It holds significant importance for the city’s socio-economic development, reinforcing its position as a gateway for trade in Central Vietnam and gradually integrating it into the global supply chain.

Triet noted that following recent territorial consolidation, Da Nang’s geographical area has expanded tenfold, creating new opportunities for growth. The Ba Na - Suoi Mo cluster of projects is expected to elevate the region’s premium tourism ecosystem, aiming to attract tens of millions of visitors annually.
