Through cyber surveillance, Hai Chau District Police, in coordination with specialized forces, identified a group of individuals organizing and participating in illegal football betting on various websites, including www.viva6889.com and www.sporty88.com.

During the investigation, the police urgently arrested three ringleaders: Nguyen Huynh Van Doi (born in 1966), Tran Dinh Ba (born in 1958), both residing in Hai Chau District, and Doan Trong (born in 1965), residing in Son Tra District, Da Nang City.

Initially, the suspects confessed that since August 2023, the bookmaker had provided the betting network leader with a limit of 3 million USD (over 60 billion VND) per month. These accounts were then subdivided and distributed to lower-level agents.

Each month, these accounts generated approximately 8 million USD in "revenue." The total transaction value of the website used for organizing the gambling was estimated to be over VND 1,000 billion (nearly $40 million).

During the search, authorities seized more than 15,000 pages of documents showing betting amounts exceeding VND 1,000 billion, along with multiple savings books. Additionally, the authorities have frozen billions of VND in the suspects' bank accounts.

Following these arrests, Hai Chau District Police and the Department of Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention and Control of Da Nang City Police dispatched a working group to the South. They coordinated with Ho Chi Minh City Police to arrest two more individuals who acted as the main betting network providers for this group.

The case is currently under further investigation.
