VietNamNet Bridge – In the Lunar New Year 2013, for the first time the central city of Da Nang will have a flower street, with a total coverage of over 11,000 m2. The road’s highlight will be a gigantic flower-made cobra. More than 100 different kinds of flowers will be displayed along the 1 km road.



The Da Nang City People's Committee has permitted a local company to invest VND17 billion ($800,000) to make the flower street, with the theme "Hundred varieties of flowers bloom."

The flower road will run along the park on the bank of the Han River, from the Bach Dang - Phan Dinh Phung intersection to Bach Dang - Le Van Duyet intersection.

The road will consist of six segments: spring of memory, spring of affluence, the country’s spring, hundreds of species of flowers bloom, the season of conversion and the season for love.

Inspired by the mascot of the year – the snake, the symbol of the flower road will be "the snake with spring". This is the idea of artist Minh Phuong, who participated in creating the main icons for HCM City’s Nguyen Hue flower road for many years. The cobra will look mighty, brave, strong, but still soft and flexible.

By design, the 85 meter cobra will be made of wood. Its body will roll while its head will look straight to the Han River. The snake body will be assembled by thousands of small pieces of wood to form its scales and colors. The head is stylized into the image of a snake releasing a pearl, meaning a lucky New Year.

The spring flower road will open from February 7 to 14. The road is estimated at 1 km long and nearly 12 m wide, using more than 100,000 flower baskets of over 100 different kinds of flowers.
