VietNamNet Bridge – The central city of Da Nang will become the first city to appoint chiefs of departments based on exams.

Mr. Dang Cong Ngu, Director of the Da Nang Department of Home Affairs, said that the city authorities have decided to start recruiting chief of departments and officials of administrative agencies of Da Nang city and its districts through examinations from August 2012.

The highest mark is 100, including 20 for writing and 60 for presentation. Contestants will have a plus 20 points for their academic standards and personal achievements.

“The new feature of this program is applicants having to defend their plans to develop their departments,” Mr. Ngu said.

Ngu also said that recruiting chairs and vice chairs of districts through exams is not implemented yet because Da Nang is among ten provinces and cities that are carrying out a pilot program under which district-level People’s Councils are dismissed.
