VietNamNet Bridge – The Ministry of Planning and Investment on Friday announced a comprehensive inspection of State management, as well as the implementation of tourism and resort projects licensed in the period 2001-2010 in the central Da Nang City.
The inspection, conducted by a work team led by the ministry's deputy chief inspector Nguyen Van Dung, will last 30 days following its announcement.
The inspectors will work with the city's Department of Planning and Investment and relevant agencies on investment licences and various issues relating to land, such as compensation, use rights, site clearance and hand-over.
According to figures from the Da Nang Department of Planning and Investment, as of June 2010, 46 tourism and resort projects were licensed in the city, with total investment of VND73 trillion (US$3.5 billion) plus US$27 million.
At present, six projects estimated at VND1.5 trillion ($72.5 million) are
currently in operation; 25 projects with a total of nearly $3 billion are under construction; and 15 of these tourism and resort projects have been delayed.
Tran Hong Ky, the ministry's chief inspector, said the inspection (the fourth conducted so far) aims to assess the mobilisation of investments into property, tourism and resort sectors on both a local and national level.
Results of the inspection will be used for programming adjustment, for building investment policies and for development orientation in order to ensure that national resources are used effectively.
