Under the impact of the epidemic, on May 10, the Da Nang International Airport was very quiet. VietNamNet reporters saw only a few passengers going through check-in formalities at the counters. Restaurants at the airport were still open, but they had no customers.

At the railway station of Da Nang, the situation was similar. There were only several ticket sellers and security guards, and not a single passenger. All stores there were closed.

A ticket seller told VietNamNet that four trains stopped at the station on May 10, but very few passengers got on the train.

An official of the Central Region Airport Authority told VietNamNet that the number of flights to and from the Da Nang International Airport has dropped due to the new outbreak.

Pham Lou, General Director of the Da Nang Transport and Bus Station Management Joint Stock Company, said that in recent days, the number of passengers plunged by nearly 70%, due to the influence of Covid-19.

According to Loi, nearly 200 employees and shopkeepers at the Da Nang bus station on May 10 took a Covid-19 test.

On May 11, more than 2,000 airline staff, flight attendants, and workers at the Da Nang International Airport also provided samples for Covid-19 tests.

Workers were divided into many groups, with each group containing 10 people. High priority groups who come in regular contact with the passengers got Covid-19 testing first.

Deputy General Director of the airport Hoang Huu Cuong said that the testing aimed to quickly discover new Covid-19 cases and soon impose a mandatory quarantine on confirmed or suspected cases.

Besides the frontline staff including pilots, aviation security officers, ground handling staff, the testing operation was also expanded for individuals who are frequently presented in the airport to conduct inspections and management tasks, he added.

Da Nang Airport hosts about 85% of flights of repatriates to Vietnam.
