The resort's owner and company chairman Huynh Uy Dung has said he will challenge the decision.

The provincial Inspectorate on August 19 announced the results of inspections into Dai Nam JSC.

Chief inspector Nguyen Thi Tuyet Mai said that they had reviewed the company’s actions during the period from January 1, 2009 to December 31, 2014 and found it responsible for five violations, including the wrongful use of 25.25 hectares of land at the Dai Nam tourism site.

The company was claimed to have constructed four buildings that did not conform to their licence and an incredible 167 other buildings that had no form of construction licence at all.

Mai added that of the eight inspected company projects, most of them lacked their legally obligated environmental impact assessment report or had yet to undertake an environmental report and the company had failed to build any kind of waste water treatment system.

The company also violated some tax regulations.

The provincial Inspectorate decided to fine the company over VND99 billion.

Huynh Uy Dung said, “We’ve immediately paid the fine.”

He added that he would complain to ‘relevant’ agencies.

Last year the company closed the resort during September and October due to a disagreement with local officials related to land use rights and what the company described as ‘unfair’ tax audits.
