VietNamNet Bridge - On April 10, the Center for Elephant Conservation of Dak Lak Province said that an elephant named Buon Nhang died on April 9 because of overwork - serving tourists.

Earlier, on the morning of April 9, the elephant owner - Mr. Y Glu Bkrông, a resident of Krong Na commune, Buon Don district, Dak Lak province, went into the Yok Don National Park, where the elephant was chained, to take it to work. He found out that the 63 year-old animal had died.

This is the second tamed elephant that died in Dak Lak – the kingdom of elephants in Vietnam - in the past two months. On February 11, a 35-year-old elephant named H'plo (owned by the Don Village Tourism Centre) died from overwork. It was also used to serve tourists.

On March 18, people found a dead elephant in the forest of Ea Sup Thuong, in M'lanh Cu commune, Ea Sup district, Dak Lak province. The wild elephant is around 2 to 3 months old, weighing 50 to 60 kg.

In mid-December last year, rangers of the Yok Don National Park discovered a dead wild elephant of about 1 to 2 months old in the park. It is a male elephant, approximately 90 cm in height, 1.2 meters long, weighing approximately 100 kg.
