VietNamNet Bridge – Being assigned to manage nearly 200 hectares of forest of a resettlement project, three officials of Ea H’leo district of Dak Lak province had to serve as a warning for loose management.

For illustration only.
The three officials who were disciplined on August 26 include Bui Cong Lang and Vo Cong Yen, head and deputy head of the Agriculture and Rural Development Department and forestry expert Nguyen Dat Vu.
According to Ea H’leo district chairman, Y Manh Adorong, Dak Lak authorities decided to allocate around 200 hectares of forest in Ea H’leo district to nearly 200 local families for resettlement in late 2010.
The Agriculture and Rural Development Department of Ea H’leo district was assigned to manage the area. At that time, the total wood reserves were estimated at more than 620 cubic meters. At present, the figure is only 136 cubic meters.
The nearly 500 cubic meters of lost wood are mainly cam xe and chit, rare woods.
The reason for the losses is said to be “loose management of officials of the Agriculture and Rural Development Department.”
“Many local residents entered the forest at night to chop up wood to use as pillars for pepper trees. Meanwhile, the forest ranger force is weak. The above punishment form is appropriate,” said district chairman Y Manh Adrong.
