VietNamNet Bridge – Danish Parliament Chairman Mogens Lykketoft and his wife left Hanoi on March 7, successfully concluding their three-day visit to Vietnam.

The Danish Parliament Speaker had held talks with National Assembly (NA) Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung, met with Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and worked with the NA committees and the Minister of Justice.

At these meetings, Mr Lykketoft praised Vietnam’s achievements in the process of national construction and development and its effective use of ODA funding from Denmark, especially in poverty reduction and human resources development.

Chairman Lykketoft affirmed the Danish Parliament, Government and people’s wish to tighten relations with Vietnam in various fields.

While staying in Vietnam, the Danish delegation expressed belief that the visit will mark a new step of development in the relations of friendship and multifaceted cooperation between the two parliaments and open bright prospects for bilateral, regional and international cooperation.

Both sides compared notes on politics, diplomacy, economics and social affairs in their respective countries as well as the role, position and function of the legislative body in the State apparatus. They pledged to do their best to strengthen solidarity, cooperation and mutual understanding between the two countries, and boost bilateral and multilateral ties between the two parliaments.

The two sides agreed to enhance cooperation in the areas of Denmark’s strength such as green and environmental friendly technology, renewable energy and response to climate change. They will continue to expand cooperation between the two legislative bodies and cross-cultural exchanges to make Vietnam-Denmark relations more substantial and effective in the future.

On the occasion, Mr Lykketoft and his delegation laid wreaths at the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and visited his living and working place.
