Authorities report that at approximately 3:00 PM, a massive volume of soil and rock fell from the mountain slope onto National Highway 6, covering the entire road surface. The collapse occurred at Km124+300 on the talus slope of the highway.

Immediately following the incident, local police, traffic forces, and rescue teams cordoned off the area, banned vehicle passage for safety, and launched a round-the-clock search and rescue effort.

By 3:05 AM on December 15, rescue forces located the last victim, Mr. Bui Van C. (born 1973), and recovered his body by 3:45 AM. The other two victims previously found were Mr. Bui Van T. (born 1980) and Mr. Pham Duc T. (born 1997).

The landslide, estimated to involve over 1,000 cubic meters of debris, buried two road maintenance workers from Company 222 and one motorcyclist who was passing through the area at the time.

By 5:36 AM the same day, traffic resumed on the main highway under controlled direction, although the site remains at high risk of further landslides. The Directorate for Roads of Vietnam has deployed a technical team to assess long-term mitigation measures and ensure continued safety, including setting up warning signs and potential rerouting if necessary.

Authorities warn that the mountain slope in this area remains unstable, posing an ongoing threat to traffic. Additional monitoring and engineering solutions are being evaluated.

Provincial leader Bui Duc Hinh, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Phu Tho People’s Council, was present at the scene to direct the emergency operations. He instructed all agencies to support the families of the victims and prioritize absolute safety for travelers.
