With the goal of maintaining a high public profile for the central city next year, the Hue Monuments Conservation Centre, the manager of local heritage sites, will hold a ceremony to greet the year's two millionth visitor to the site.

Awards will also be distributed to the 1,999,999th and 2,000,001st visitors.

According to Nguyen Van Phuc, an official of the centre, the centre expects to show visitors how well the conservation work has been performed at the Hue monuments, as well as the centre's work to provide improved services for tourists. This follows recent public comments that the Hue Monuments complex was not well-preserved.

Phuc also said a pilot progamme of nha nhac (Hue royal court music) at the royal theatre Duyet Thi Duong will be held during the week, to give visitors more options for recreation at night.

Every audience member attending nha nhac concert at Duyet Thi Duong Theatre will receive a half price ticket. Meanwhile, a group of 10 visitors will receive a 20 per cent discount for visiting the sites, and a group of 50 will receive a free tour guide while visiting the Imperial Palace.

Regarding promotional packages for visiting the site, visitors can use a single ticket bought at the Imperial City, Ung Lang (known as Khai Dinh Tomb), Hieu Lang (known as Minh Mang Tomb) to visit other monuments that require tickets.

Further, the centre will organise an exhibition featuring moments of Hue, a gala dinner, a music performance in the royal garden Vuon Co Ha, and a fashion show of ao dai.

Phuc said a meeting would be held on the sideline during the week to review the operation of the tourism services at the sites.

Experts expect the week will offer tourists who stay in Viet Nam for Christmas and New Year's Eve more interesting activities to enjoy.
