At least 11 people have been killed and 14 others injured in a three-storeyed hotel collapse in the city of Secunderabad in the southern Indian state of Andhra Pradesh Monday, a senior police official said.

The death toll is likely to go up as many people are still trapped under the debris of the 80-year-old Iranian City Light hotel which collapsed at 6:30 a.m. (local time) in the town near state capital Hyderabad, he said, on condition of anonymity.
"Some 11 people were killed and all the injured have been admitted to a nearby hospital. While 10 people have been brought out alive from the debris, several others are still feared trapped," the official added.
Local TV channels showed footage of rescuers bringing out dead bodies as well as survivors from the rubble of the building whose owner has been issued notices on safety by civic authorities.
Building collapses are common in India because of poor construction materials.
Some nine people were killed in two separate building collapses in Mumbai while in April, more than 74 people perished in another building collapse on the outskirts of India's financial capital.
