Principles related to the management of external information service
news and information activities were detailed in a recent Government Decree.
The Decree said activities concerning external information service need
to comply with Party guidance and policies, State laws, signed
international treaties and legal regulations in other countries where
activities are arranged.
It added that external information service information are obligated not
to affect national security, social order or safety; damage the
prestige, image, diplomatic relations or international cooperation of
Vietnam; disclose national secrets; incite people against the State or
undermine the national great unity; instigate violence or propagandise
aggressive war; or sow hatred among nations and peoples.
The Decree also underlined the need to ensure accurate, timely and
in-depth information in line with Party orientations, State law and
approved foreign relations information plans as well as avoid giving
false and distorted information to diminish the honour of organisations
and the dignity of individuals.
Under the Decree, the Ministry of Information and Communication will
work with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other ministries,
Governmental agencies, provincial level People’s Committees and relevant
agencies to implement the State management of foreign relations
information activities.
External information includes the official information of Vietnam
such as Party guidance and State policies and laws; the country’s
history and socio-economic development; promoting Vietnam’s land and
people; and international issues in Vietnam.
The Vietnam News Agency, the Radio Voice of Vietnam and Vietnam
Television are among the agencies supplying the official information of
Vietnam.
