VietNamNet Bridge – Minister of National Defence General Phung Quang Thanh is leading a Vietnamese delegation to attend the 7th ASEAN Defence Ministerial Meeting (ADMM-7), which is slated to take place in Brunei from May 6-8.

Issues under spotlight at the 7th ADMM include the recent development of ASEAN and security and defence situation in the region.

The meeting will work on the establishment of a defence exchange programme, a logistics assistance framework and a working group on humanitarian mine action.

The delegates are expected to adopt a join statement on the meeting’s theme of “Securing our people, our future together”.

Furthermore, the meeting will be updated on a Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief/Military Medicine (HADR/MM) exercise under the framework of ADMM Plus which is scheduled to take place in Brunei from June 16 to 20.

* Congratulations to Malaysia’s Barisan National

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung on May 6 sent a message of congratulations to Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak, leader of the ruling Barisan National (BN), on the BN’s victory in the 13th general election in Malaysia on May 5.

The BN won 133 seats in the parliament (59.91 percent) while the opposition three-party Pakatan Rakyat (PR) alliance ended with 89 seats.

Razak on May 6 was officially sworn in as Malaysia’s Prime Minister following the BN’s victory.
