VietNamNet Bridge - After a collision with a teammate in the match against Uzbekistan last week, defender Phung Van Nhien of the Vietnam national team was badly injured.

At the 49th minute of the match between the Vietnam national squad and Uzbekistan, defender Nhien rivaled an Uzbekistan striker for the ball. At the same time, goalkeeper Tan Truong rushed into to break the ball. Truong accidentally knocked his knee while the arm of the Uzbekistan striker also hit to Nhien’s face. The defender fell down and was unconscious.
The doctors came in to give first aid to Van Nhien. Then the left-wing defender was taken straight to the Vietnam Sport Hospital. According to initial scan, Van Nhien suffered from broken collarbone shoulder, concussion of brain, cracked ribs and spine.
Nhien was then transferred to the Postal Hospital and experienced a surgery on November 16. Doctors said that the treatment process will take at least two months. Nhien will have to rest for another three months.
With the injuries, Van Nhien missed the game against the UAE in Abu Dhabi in the qualifier round of the Asian Cup 2015 on November 19.
Van Nhien is the captain of Hoang Anh Gia Lai FC and the FC plans to take Nhien to Singapore or Thailand for treatment, says the FC’s CEO – Mr. Huynh Mau.
