Denmark will disburse up to US$100 million in non-refundable official development assistance for Viet Nam in 2013-2014, a diplomat says.

Part of the above money will be used in assisting the development of poor communities in Lao Cai, Quang Nam, Dak Lak, Dak Nong, and Ben Tre, Danish Ambassador to Viet Nam, John Niclsen, told media in Ha Noi on Friday.

Other areas that Denmark will support Viet Nam next year include green growth, climate change adaptation, culture, water and sanitation, governance and administrative reform.

According to the EU Blue Book, Denmark is the biggest non-refundable ODA provider for Viet Nam within the European Union in 2013-2014.

Regarding the other fields of cooperation, Ambassador John Niclsen said the two-way trade turnover and the number of Danish companies doing business in Viet Nam keep on rising quickly.

Denmark also pledges to help green the Vietnamese economy, the Ambassador stated.
