VietNamNet Bridge - Deputy Foreign Minister Pham Quang Vinh has been appointed Vietnamese ambassador to the US to replace his predecessor Nguyen Quoc Cuong.

Vinh has been working in the diplomatic sector for nearly 34 years. He was the deputy representative of the Vietnamese mission to the United Nations in New York before working as Minister-Counsellor of the Vietnamese Embassy in Thailand.
He was the head of the Vietnamese delegation to the Senior Officials Meeting of ASEAN (SOM ASEAN) for seven years.
He played an important role in chairing ASEAN negotiations and conferences, especially those relating to the East Sea, as well as in strengthening relations between ASEAN and its big partners like China, Japan, the US, and Russia.
