VietNamNet Bridge – Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has stressed that all resources and efforts would be made to ensure operation of Song Tranh 2-Hydropower plant would not affect nearby residents' lives.
Quang Nam: Hundreds of people tent to avoid earthquakes

Phuc made the assurances during his meeting yesterday, Sept 30, with voters of Bac Tra My District in central Quang Nam Province.
Most of the voters expressed concerns over the safety levels of Song Tranh 2-Hydropower plant, following numerous earthquakes in September.
The level of water, after heavy rains, has reached 161 meters and the hydropower plant contains about 461 million of cubic meters of waters.
If it breaks, the consequences could be devastating, residents said at the meeting.
Hoang Quoc Vuong, management board chairman of Electricity of Viet Nam, said he recognised the residents' trust in staying behind following the incidences. Vuong said the company would send staff to work with scientists and local authorities to closely monitor the dam.
With regards to relocation, Vuong said that EVN would work with Quang Nam People's Committee and other relevant authorities to assess the damages caused by the two earthquakes and determine the level of support required.
Le Dinh Tien, deputy minister of Science and Technology, said it was working with other agencies to install equipment to monitor earthquake activity in the area.
The deputy PM said the Government and State fully recognise the difficulties that the residents had to overcome and would instruct that all comments and suggestions from the residents be taken into account.
