Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai, at the invitation of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and Republic of Finland, is making final preparations for a five day visit from September 22-26.
In the Netherlands, DP Minister Hai and his delegation are scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with Dutch leaders discussing measures to carry out cooperation agreements reached during Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte’s Vietnam visit in June 2014.
Specifically the parties are expected to focus their discussions on expanding cooperation in the fields of climate change adaptation, water management, agriculture, sea-borne economy, energy and logistics.
Hai will also co-chair the 4th meeting of the Vietnam-Netherlands Inter-Government Committee on climate change and water management and attend Vietnam Day while in the Netherlands.
Bilateral friendship and cooperative relations have seen vigorous development in many fields over recent years prominently evidenced by an established strategic partnership in climate change adaptation and water management, sustainable agriculture and food security.
The Netherlands ranks first among European investors in Vietnam with 214 projects at US$6.45 billion and the Western European nation is the third largest importer of Vietnamese products in the EU.
Two-way trade turnover averages US$3.6 billion annually.
In Finland, Hai and Finish leaders are scheduled to discuss measures to boost trade and investment cooperation, with the center of attention focused on cooperation projects during the period 2013-2016.
Finland has invested US$329 million in Vietnam while bilateral trade value averages US$200-250 million a year.
Finland also provides approximately US$340 million of official development assistance (ODA) to Vietnam .
