VietNamNet Bridge – Cooperation between the Vietnamese Government and the US Agency for International Development (USAID) has positively contributed to promoting the friendship between the two countries.

The Deputy PM thanked the USAID for assisting Vietnam to prevent HIV/AIDS, build and reform administrative institution in the field of State management to improve the investment environment in the country and facilitate its international integration.

Hai expressed hope that the USAID will continue helping Vietnam reduce poverty, deal with climate change, train human resources and improve the capacities for preventing and combating drugs and HIV/AIDS.

Steinberg said the US government attaches importance to strengthening ties with its Vietnamese counterpart, not only in Asia but also in other parts of the world.

US-Vietnam partnership will boost two-way trade and help the Southeast Asian nation alleviate poverty, increase life expectancy, and reduce newborn fatality, he said.

The Deputy Administrator affirmed that the USAID is willing to work closely with Vietnam to cope with challenges such as climate change impact on agricultural production and assisting the country to prevent and combat drugs and HIV/AIDS.

The USAID is working with Vietnamese authorities to tackle Agent Orange issues.
