Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh met with Singaporean Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan on the fringe of the ASEAN Summit and related events in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on November 20.

During the meeting, both sides exchanged a number of measures to further enhance efficient strategic partnership between Vietnam and Singapore.
They agreed to continue close cooperation, strengthening business connections and promoting links through regional mechanisms such as ASEAN and the Trans-Pacific Partnership.
They discussed the launching of negotiations on an agreement on sending Vietnamese labourers to work in Singapore.
The officials also shared the need to urge relevant parties to fully implement the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea and serious and substantive negotiations soon on the Code of Conduct in the waters, thus contributing to the maintenance of peace, stability, freedom and maritime and airway security and safety in the East Sea as well as fostering the central role of ASEAN in the region.
