Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh on September 8 received President of the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation R. Minnikhanov and Kuwait-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentarians Group Chairman Khalil Abdulla Ali.

Meeting with the Tatarstan President, FM Binh Minh said that the Vietnam-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership is successfully developing across a variety of fields- trade, oil &gas, nuclear power and military technology.

Minh highly appreciated the visit to Vietnam by the Tatarstan President and the two sides’ huge potential for broader cooperation.

Deputy PM Minh asked Tatarstan to play a positive role in deepening the Vietnam - Russia comprehensive strategic partnership and promote effective bilateral cooperation in the fields of education-training, scientific research, oil and gas, manufacturing industry, agriculture and tourism.

He said he will direct relevant agencies to increase practical cooperation and seek appropriate localities that Tatarstan can establish direct relations.

Minh thanked the authorities and people of the Autonomous Republic of Tatarstan for  creating favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community to live, study and work  and believed that the visit Vietnam by Tatarstan leaders is a good start for long-term cooperation between Tatarstan and a number of Vietnamese ministries, sectors and localities.

For his part, President Minnikhanov expressed his delight at visiting a hospitable Vietnam which is developing dynamically and impressively. He informed his host about the working results with some Vietnamese ministries and the outcome of talks between Tatarstan businesses and Vietnamese partners.

President Minnikhanov said his country has great potential for cooperation with Vietnam in many areas and it will make specific proposals for substantial and effective cooperation with Vietnamese localities aiming to further strengthen the Vietnam-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership.

Receiving Kuwait-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentarians Group Chairman Khalil Abdulla Ali, Minh reiterated Vietnam’s unswerving policy of attaching importance to ties of traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation with Kuwait and his desire that relations between the two countries will grow substantially and effectively to bring practical benefits to the two peoples.

Chairman Khalil Abdulla Ali Kuwait, in turn, regarded his visit as a good opportunity to augment effective friendly relations and cooperation with Vietnam.

During the meeting, host and guest exchanged views on measures to bolster bilateral cooperation by strengthening delegation exchange at all levels, the efficiency of bilateral cooperation mechanisms such as the Intergovernmental Committee and effective implementation of signed agreements.

They also consented to enhance cooperation in the areas of their strength like oil and gas, trade and tourism and continuous coordination at regional and international forums.

Both sides agreed to hold the second meeting of the joint committee and pledge full support for business and investment aiming for US$1billion trade target in the time ahead.
