Earlier, in the discussion of the Hanoi People’s Council on December 7, Mr. Tran Trong Duc, Chairman of the Inspection Commission of the Hanoi Party Committee, said that to become a public servant in Hanoi, people have to pay around VND100 million ($5,000).

Mr. Duc also pointed out that the heads of the Home Affair Divisions of districts are those who did this.

At the meeting yesterday, when it came to the quality of civil servants, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc said that when they got information on corruption related to public servant recruitment, Hanoi officials must immediately inspect for clarification.

According to Mr. Dinh Duy Hoa, head of the Department of Administrative Reform of the Ministry of Home Affairs, the public administration reform index that is going to be applied in 2013 will collect the opinions of people, officials and public servants on the recruitment of civil servant.

People will be consulted about the implementation of the regulations on recruitment of civil servants as prescribed or not.

"But it is not easy to determine negative factors in this stage. Therefore, the information detected by the press and people will be very important," Hoa said.

Hoa told VietNamNet that Hanoi should immediately check the information on corruption related to the recruitment of civil servants at the direction of Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc.
