Among special guest will be the young director, screenwriter and actor Tali Barde, who will present his film For No Eyes Only in Hanoi and HCMC, and will be available to answer questions from the audience.

In 2015 German films capture historic as well as current topics as they deal with the power of digital media, with traditions and cultural distinctions. This year’s German Film Festival in Vietnam offers the audience a selection of eight film highlights from renowned directors and with famous German actors.

The Festival Films:

The opening film "Who am I – No system is safe" is a pacy and visually striking cyber-thriller about a gang of computer hackers with a dangerous Russian group and European cyber police on its trail.

The portrait of a German soldier in Afghanistan Inbetween Worlds explores questions of affinity and otherness, trust and failure. What remains of the ideals of human dignity when you are caught up in a daily struggle for survival?

Two of this year’s films tell the story of little boys who all of a sudden are on their own: Jack is a 10-year-old who runs away with his brother and embarks on a dangerous and disturbing journey across Berlin. In Run boy, run!, Academy Award winner Pepe Danquart tells the true story of an eight-year-old refugee, escaping from the ghetto of Warsaw, who manages to be one step ahead of his pursuers for three years because of his courage and an incredible instinct for survival.

For no eyes only is what the teenager Sam observes when he hits upon a hacking software that enables him access to external webcams and lets him witness a suspicious situation.

A lone rider high up in the alps, a wedding that comes with a terrible tradition and the mysterious death of two brothers is the setting of the visually stunning Euro-Western The Dark Valley.

Not my day is the story of Till Reiner who finds a way out of his early midlife crisis when his bank is being robbed and he bonds with his kidnappers – a crime-comedy-road movie for the whole family. Fantasy fans shouldn’t miss Vampire Sisters as it follows Silvania and Dakaria from Transylvania to a small town in Germany, where they have to suit to the everyday life of humans and hide their vampire identity – even more so as it turns out their neighbor is a vampire hunter…
