VietNamNet – On January 15th, the Ministry of Information and Technology held an online conference on the deployment the 4th Plenum of the Party Central Committee, 11th tenure on developing the National Information Infrastructure at 56 offices of People’s Committees across the country.

The conference is to grasp thoroughly the contents of Resolution 13-NQ/TW of the Party Central Committee, Resolutions of Government and plans of the Ministry of Information and Communication on building national information infrastructure.

Addressing the opening ceremony, comrade Nguyen Bac Son, Party Standing Committee member and Minister of Information and Communication, said: The Resolution 13-NQ/TW which was approved at the 4th Plenum of the Party Central Committee, 11th tenure on January 16th, 2012, focused on building the synchronous infrastructure system in order for Vietnam to become a modern industrial country by 2020. The Resolution determines that information technology is one of the important infrastructures, both the infrastructure of the economic and technical sector and the characteristic infrastructure in service of the economic and social development, guaranteeing security and national defence and digital sovereignty.

Minister Son suggested the managers of information technology and communications, and representatives of enterprises at the conference discuss and contribute their ideas on the information technology - communications field and solutions to modernize infrastructure, as well as developing the country through information technology.

Directing the conference, Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai asked leaders of ministries, sectors and localities to grasp thoroughly and raise awareness of the role and importance of information technology. He highlighted that information technology should be given much importance as one of the biggest motives behind for the country’s sustainable development.

Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai has also proposed building a strong information technology, to meet the needs of domestic and international markets; enhancing support for the IT business community to keep pace with the region and the world, and promote building the focus information technology industry zones to attract strong investors, and besides these, promoting the application of information technology and communications, and building E-government, E-commerce, development of the smart health system and smart grid.

The session on the development of Post and Telecommunications will focus on the development of broadband access networks; improving 3G system use; fibre optic cable satellite; policies on radio engineering frequency planning, developing private networks; and national security information.

Session on the effective application of information technology in the State’s agencies, social and economic sectors and e-government: focusing on contents of implementing the program applying information and technology in State activities and developing E-Government and E-authority according to the spirit of Resolution 13, the 4th Plenum of the Party Central Committee, 11th tenure, on developing the National Information Infrastructure.
