Mr. Mung and his son.

This rare case happened in Khanh Hoa Province. The man who was resurrected from the brink of death is Mr. Nguyen Van Mung, 79, in Van Thanh Ward, Nha Trang City.

According to Mung’s family, on the afternoon of February 17, after drinking tonic water, Mung suddenly lost consciousness and was taken to the Khanh Hoa Province Hospital for emergency aid.

On the evening of February 18, the doctors said that Mung suffered from cerebral infarction, atelectasis, and could not survive. They advised the man’s family to take him home to prepare for his funeral. The man was brought home the same evening.

However, in the afternoon of February 19, when the oxygen tube and water transmission pipe was withdrawn, Mung suddenly moved and pointed his finger to the snorkel.

Relatives quickly slapped on his back. Mung vomited mucus out and then gradually woke up, ate and drank as normal.

Talking to the press, Dr. Cao Viet Dung, deputy director of Khanh Hoa Province Hospital, said in this case perhaps the doctor's prognosis was wrong. He said the hospital would check again.

Similar cases occurred in Soc Trang, Hanoi and Quang Ngai.

In the latest case in Quang Ngai, which occurred at the end of July 2012, a patient recovered very well after two times being sent home by doctors.

Mr. Tran Mien, from Nghia Lo Ward, Quang Ngai City, was diagnosed with myocardial infarction. After three days of intensive treatment, the doctors informed the man’s family that the patient was in critical conditions, with only 3 percent of survival opportunity. The doctors also told the family to take the patient home to prepare his funeral.

In the afternoon, when the family withdrew the snorkel, Mien suddenly woke up, asked for water. The family took him back to the hospital for emergency aid.

However, after failing to seek hand vein for water transmission for 4 times, doctors asked the family to take the patient home. At home, Mien regained consciousness and resuscitated.
