VietNamNet Bridge – City stunner Luu Thi Diem Huong will represent the nation at Miss Universe 2012 beauty pageant at Planet Hollywood Resort in Las Vegas next month.

The beauty held a meeting on Tuesday at the Riverside Palace in HCMC’s District 4. At the event, entrepreneur Hung Cuu Long from Cuu Long Jewelry gifted a platinum necklace worth VND60million to Huong. This item will be auctioned in a charity event among this year’s contestants.

Huong, Miss Vietnam World 2010 who was born in HCMC, also finished in the Top 15 of Miss Earth contest in Nha Trang in 2010 and grabbed the title of Miss Bikini. The 22-year-old is 1.74m tall and her vital statistics are 85-62-94.

At the contest in the U.S., the beauty will parade ao dai (Vietnamese long dress) by Thuan Viet and evening gowns and casual wear by Adrian Anh Tuan. Furthermore, she has brushed up on her English pronunciation skills for the event.

Huong has called on local fans to vote for her online for the title of Miss Popular to win a ticket to the semifinals. The voting will halt on Tuesday, December 18 at 6 p.m. ET at the website http://www.missuniverse.com/members/contestants/year:2012/.

This year’s contest is its 61st edition with the participation of 92 contestants. The coronation night on December 19, which will be hosted by Andy Cohen and Giuliana Rancic, will be broadcast live in 190 countries. Contestants will join in three challenges of swimsuit, evening gown and Q&A.

Last year’s winner was Leila Lopes, 25, from Angola.
