Hanh said at the opening ceremony of the week of digital transformation and innovation startup in the Mekong Delta held on May 23 that, since 2018, Vietnam has always been among top 50 countries in innovation and post index.
The number of dossiers filed online accounts for 38 percent of total dossiers for administration procedures. Breakthrough changes can be seen clearly in some provinces, including Quang Ninh, which granted investment certificates to two projects within 12 working hours.
The Ministry of Public Security (MPS) has been building a population database, having granted 84.7 million chip-based ID cards and 70.2 million electronic identification accounts.
Also according to Hanh, Vietnam’s digital economy continues to grow rapidly, by 20 percent, or three times higher than GDP.
Surveys have found that online payment transactions have increased sharply, by 66 percent in quantity and 4 percent in transaction value, up 63 percent in number of transactions and 8.8 percent in value of transactions via mobile phones, and up by 124 percent and 16 percent, respectively, in terms of transactions via QR Code.
The opening ceremony of the week of digital transformation and innovation startup was organized by the Hau Giang People’s Committee and HCM City Computer Association (HCA) with 1,000 participants.
This was the third consecutive time the event was held in HauGiang. Six workshops and four sideline activities were organized to discuss solutions and applications of technology in economy, agriculture and environment.
The highlight of the event was the digital transformation and innovation startup experience and display area opened on May 23-24, with 60 booths introducing technological equipment, digital transformation products and solutions created by organizations, corporations, and businesses across the country.
Hau Giang’s chair Dong Van Thanh said that building an electronic government and striving for digital government is one of three groundbreaking tasks for the 2020-2025 tenure.
“Hau Giang has decided that IT development will be a breakthrough that boosts robust growth and helps realize the aspiration of developing Hau Giang into a province with a high growth level in the Mekong River Delta and the whole country,” Thanh said.
Hau Giang’s provincial competitiveness indexes in 2023, including PAPI (Vietnam Provincial Governance and Public Administration performance index), PAR (Public Administration Reform Index) and SIPAS (Satisfaction Index of Public Administrative Services), all increased over the year before, while GRDP grew by 12.27 percent.
Hau Giang is the center of the Western Hau River sub-region. It has gained great achievements in socio-economic development recently with an effective communication environment between state agencies and the public.
