VietNamNet Bridge – The Hanoi Transport Police Department has inspected and determined that more than 500 cars with diplomatic and foreign number plates will have their number plates revoked.

The Hanoi Transport Police Department currently manages 567 cars with diplomatic and foreign number plates. However, the recent inspection revealed that up to 508 cars of this kind are no longer have the right to use these kinds of number plates.

Of this number, 284 cars are out of use date and 224 cars with unknown use date. The Police has required the owners of these vehicles to fulfill the procedures of number plate revocation.

According to statistics of the Ministry of Public Security, the country has about 4,000 cars with diplomatic number plates, which were imported from 1998 to the end of August 2009. Of them, there are thousands of cars that do not fulfill the procedures for transfer or were transferred without paying taxes. This situation makes tax losses for the state budget.

According to the Ministry of Public Security, after June 10, 2013, the ministry will hold an inspection of cars with diplomatic and foreign number plates and will penalize those who violate the regulations on the use of cars with diplomatic and foreign number plates.
