Foreign Ministry's Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang on January 8 announced remarks in external activities in 2014 and diplomatic orientations for 2015.

In the context of the complex and unstable situations in the world and the region, Viet Nam consistently followed its diplomatic policy of independence, self-defense, diversification and active international integration as a reliable partner and a responsible member of the international community.

The nation also closely coordinated the Party and State’s diplomacy and people-to-people exchange with national defense and security.

Viet Nam’s diplomatic activities made crucial contributions to maintaining the peaceful and sustainable environment as well as took advantages of external resources for the national development and promoted the relations between Viet Nam and other nations more effectively.

The country proposed initiatives at multi-lateral forums, which asserted its role and status.

Viet Nam’s efforts in cooperating with other nations to cope with traditional and non-traditional security challenges such as terrorism, pirates, trans-national crimes, climate change, and diseases were highly praised by the international community.

On economic diplomacy, a number of economic links were accelerated such as the completion of the Free Trade Agreement negotiations with the Republic of Korea and the Customs Union of Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus.

These achievements helped keep macro-economic stability and maintain the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth rate of 5.9%.

Viet Nam successfully evacuated 1,700 overseas Vietnamese out of Libya and guaranteed the safety for the Vietnamese community in Ukraine.

In 2015, Viet Nam will organize a lot of crucial events such as the 65th founding anniversary of the Communist Party of Viet Nam, the 70th anniversary of the National Day, the 40th anniversary of the Southern Liberation Day and other ceremonies to remark the establishment of its diplomatic ties with other countries across the world.

The nation will boost up the relations with its partners, especially neighboring nations, strategic partnership and comprehensive partnership more effectively, actively join multi-lateral mechanisms, ASEAN and the United Nations and organize successfully the 132nd General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union.

The diplomatic sector will launch synchronously and comprehensively diplomatic activities in terms of politics, economic diplomacy, cultural diplomacy, information work and citizen protection to serve for the national development.

On the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the establishment of Viet Nam-China diplomatic ties, a number of activities will be held to strengthen the bilateral relationship between the two countries.
