VietNamNet Bridge – Lieutenant General Nguyen Duc Nhanh, director of the Hanoi Police Agency, Vice Chief of the General Department of Security II, retired on a pension on August 31, after over 40 years working as a police officer.

“I’ve reached the age of retirement. I should retire to delegate powers to others,” he told an online newspaper on August 31.

Nhanh is known for many big cases that were investigated by Hanoi police, including the drug trading ring ran by Vu Xuan Truong, rescuing a Japanese hostage, etc. Recently, his establishment of working group 141 to control illegal motorbike races was warmly supported by Hanoians.

Before being appointed as director of the Hanoi Police Agency, Nhanh assumed various positions at the Hanoi Police Agency. He was granted many medals.

Colonel Nguyen Duc Chung, 45, has been appointed as the acting director of the Hanoi Police Agency.

Before the appointment, Chung was deputy director of the Hanoi Police Agency, chief investigator of Hanoi investigating police department and a member of the National Assembly’s Justice Committee.

Chung, who graduated from the People’s Police University, is a master degree holder of law, a bachelor of business management, and a high-ranking investigator.
