On December 5, the Investigation Agency of Long An Province stated that the man died of asphyxiation and they found no sign of murder.

Van’s subordinates said recently they saw their boss to be in distress, weight loss, less active and showing signs of depression. These symptoms appeared after his daughter was arrested for the charge of abusing confidence to appropriate property. Van’s daughter borrowed over VND700 million ($35,000) and did not repay the debt.

Recently, the Long An Radio and Television Station reviewed Van’s responsibility in management. He was also criticized for his daughter’s arrest, which affected the station’s reputation.

The night before he committed suicide, Van slept alone in his house in Ward 2, Tan An City (his wife and children slept in another house).

Every day the 59-year-old director used to get up early to do exercise, drink coffee and then go to work. But on December 4, he did not leave the house.

At around 9am, his children knocked the door but nobody answered. When the door was opened, they found their father dead in the hanging position.

In the southwestern region, Van is widely known as the author of many songs. He was a member of the Vietnam Stage Artists Association.
