The rock village Khuoi Ky, located between Ban Gioc waterfall and Nguom Ngao cave in Dam Thuy commune, Trung Khanh district, Cao Bang province, is famous for its stilt houses built of rocks.
Covering 10,000 square meters, the village consists of 14 rock houses on stilts. The Tay ethnic minority in northern mountainous province of Cao Bang pays tribute to the “rock god”. Thanks to its unique name and worship tradition, the village has attracted a huge number of tourists. Rock is used in building houses, fences, dams, and mills. Locals believe that rock is a source of life and the centre of the universe. Khuoi Ky is recognised as a traditional ethnic minority cultural village by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. |
