VietNamNet’s Vu Trung spent over a day to discover gold mining and gold processing activities at Vietnam’s largest gold mine - Bong Mieu, in the central province of Quang Nam.

At Bong Mieu mine, gold is mined and processed in a closed process,

which is strictly protected by security guards.

Gold ores are ground and filtered by cyanua to collect gold dusts.

Gold dusts are refined in kilns at over 2000oC to become “water”.

It is poured into rectangle moulds and kept cool to become gold bars.

These gold bars will be processed into the final products for export, at a secret place.

According to Bong Mieu’s managers, this mine produces around 560kg of gold a year. This is the first gold mine opened in Vietnam. Experts said that the above output is too modest compared to the mine’s great reserve.

However, the real data of this mine is still a secret.
