Nearly 200 gamers visited the tomb and “burned incense” for Tay Mon Khanh. Some expressed their pity for this game character.
“Does Tay Mon Khanh have a successor? Why did you jump pro to be killed? In your next life, remember to not jump pro to be assassinated again!,” one gamer wrote.
There are dozens of tombs for game characters in this online cemetery. Some gamers who have successfully rehabilitated from online games built online tombs for their characters.
“Goodbye, my Falling Star (the name of the character in audition, a game sourced from South Korea, which is very popular in Vietnam). I cannot play audition anymore but I will sometimes visit you here. I wish to have somebody to play you. Don’t be upset with me. Though you are a virtual girl but I’m very happy to see and talk to you,” a 17-year-old girl wrote on the tombstone of her character.

“Please don’t be angry with me. From now on I cannot take care of you because I’m busy with my graduation exams. Who can share this sadness with me? I miss you!,” a teen girl wrote.
The virtual cemetery is part of the online cemetery, which comprise cemetery for embryos, for love, for religion, etc. This is the space for tombs of unreal things. Besides game characters, there are tombs of Yahoo Messenger nicks. These tombs are made to give up online relations and online memories.
The owner of a tomb for her YM nick explained that she built this online tomb to “finish” with the past and to “become a new person who doesn’t have to cry at midnight”.
In the real life, such acts may be seen as “crazy” but in the online cemetery, tomb makers are always shared by those in the same plight.
