Progress has been slow despite the commitment of investor Trang An Tourism Joint Stock Company.
According to an official of the People’s Committee in Hoa Lu District, only some 10 per cent of the illegal construction has been removed so far.
The company cut into Cai Ha Mountain and constructed a staircase with 900 stairs, paths and other works, measuring 510m in length.
Earlier, the Department of Construction of Ninh Binh Province and Hoa Lu District People’s Committee issued documents instructing Trang An Tourism Joint Stock Company to accelerate the dismantling of the illegal structure.
According to a survey, the illegal construction consists of nine segments, many of which are dangerous and difficult to dismantle.
As previously reported by the Viet Nam News Agency, the culture ministry had announced that the company’s construction on Cai Ha Mountain inside Trang An Heritage Site violated the Culture Heritage Law, harming the Trang An World Culture Heritage Site.
The provincial People’s Committee has set up an inspection team and asked Trang An Tourism Joint Stock Company to voluntarily dismantle the illegal construction.
The Trang An Landscape Complex was listed among UNESCO World Heritage sites on June 23, 2014.
