Entitled Bình Minh or Sunrise, the show marks the return of the two artists since their first collaboration on Lam’s first concert Đêm Huyền Diệu (A Magical Night) in 1993, which lasted for a week. Trung masterminded that show, one of the first concerts in contemporary Vietnamese pop back then.
Over the past 25 years most of Lam’s achievements have come through projects in collaboration with her ex, despite the couple breaking up about a decade ago.
“Some projects of our, including Mây Trắng Bay Về (The Returned Clouds), Cho Em Một Ngày (Please Give Me a Day), Em Và Tôi (You & I), Bài Hát Ru Cho Anh (A Lullaby for You), were hailed as one of the best albums and concerts of the Vietnamese contemporary music scene,” she said.
Returning with a more energetic approach, Lam said that she and composer Trung, who she says are best friends, want to create something especially for them.
“What we do is purely dedicated to our passion and our love for music, and Bình Minh is a grand project that we have been waiting for years to bring to life,” she said.
Trung has arranged all 22 songs to be performed at the show. There will be new songs written for Lam, performed alongside her biggest hits.
Notably, Bình Minh will be the first concert in Vietnam to use international music procedures, with all the songs to be programmed digitally to sync up with the stage’s lighting and sound system.
“At the very last step, both the singer and the band will practice and make sure everything on stage will take place as planned. This is the kind of procedure that all international music producers and singers adopt when holding their concerts,” Trung explained.
Ha Tran will be the only guest singer of Bình Minh. Ha has been hailed as one of the most talented singers of her generation and her music is greatly influenced by Lam.
The concert will take place at the Ha Noi’s Cultural Friendship Palace at 8pm on December 1 and 2.
