As 2018 Lunar New Year (Tet) is approaches, travel companies in Hanoi are preparing to meet customers’ diverse needs and interests.
Months before Tet, travel agents began offering a wide range of tours and services with big promotions. This year, in addition to itineraries of Ninh Binh, Ha Long, Lao Cai, Ha Giang, and Tuyen Quang, there are tours to regions with buckwheat flowers and daisies in full bloom.
"My family usually travels to a new destination for each lunar New Year festival. This year we will visit several northern pagodas. My wife wants to visit Yen Tu pagoda to pray for a year full of happiness and health," said Bui Cong Anh of Hanoi’s Cau Giay district.
According to Phan Thi Thu Minh, Director of the Hoang Anh Tourism Company, the number of southerners signing up for journeys to northern areas has increased 15%, especially for tours to places with flowers in bloom. Many have chosen to welcome the lunar New Year among the ethnic minorities of the north western regions.
"We encourage our customers to plan their trips in detail with travel agents in advance to ensure smooth and enjoyable travel," said Ms. Thu Minh.
Trips to the Republic of Korea, Japan, Taipei China, Thailand, and Singapore are also popular with many families.
"The Lunar New Year Festival is the longest holiday of the year, when the whole family can travel together. In northern Vietnam, people often travel on the second day of the lunar New Year, with favorite destinations being warm places like Thailand, Singapore, and Hong Kong (China), whose traditions of welcoming the New Year and practicing Buddhism are similar to Vietnam’s," said Ta Huu Chien, Director of the Sun Travel Company.
