The DOC concluded that the removal of anti-dumping tariffs on frozen warm water shrimp imports from the above countries might lead to a risk of possible dumping.
The U.S. initiated an anti-dumping investigation into frozen warm water shrimp imported from Vietnam and other countries in 2004 and started to impose anti-dumping tariffs on Vietnamese exporters from January 26, 2005, with an anti-dumping margin ranging from 4.30% to 25.76%.
Currently, the U.S. is conducting the 16th-period review (POR16) from February 1, 2021 to January 31, 2022 of frozen warm water shrimp imports.
In the most recent review, the DOC determined that the two Vietnamese mandatory defendants and 29 other Vietnamese shrimp exporters would enjoy a duty of 0%.
Since 2014, Vietnam has always ranked among the top three seafood exporters in the world. According to statistics of the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers, the total seafood export value of Vietnam in the first eight months of this year amounted to US$7.6 billion, up 36.2% over the same period last year. Among these, shrimp exports accounted for US$3 billion, up 22.5% from last year’s same period.
