Nguyen Huu Du said the doctors removed the tumor from the uterus of a 56-year-old woman in southern Vinh Long Province’s Tra On District on October 19.

The patient had been hospitalised with intense abdominal pain.

After undergoing several tests, the doctors determined that the woman had a large uterine fibroid and should undergo surgery immediately.

Dr Huynh Thanh Liem, who performed the surgery, said this was a severe case as the tumor was embedded deeply in the pelvis between the bladder and vagina, which posed dangers for the patient’s life.

The surgery was conducted successfully and the patient was recovering well, he said.
